Beautiful craftsmanship (modern & retro chandelier)

Pure craftsmanship has always fascinated me. For almost ten years I worked for a specialized silversmith. There I was responsible for designing and forging silver bracelets, rings, earrings and necklaces. Repairing antique jewelry was also part of the work. In 2015 I became a partner in a bicycle company with three locations in Amsterdam. Repairs, sales and the design and construction of custom built bicycles for customers who want to have a unique bicycle, form the basis of this renowned company.

When maintaining bicycles, a lot of worn material is released. Material that is usually written off as 'worthless'. However, chains, gears and rims are so cleverly conceived in their simplicity. And so elegantly and strongly executed at the same time, that I could not resist looking for new applications. And preferably to make something beautiful and sustainable from residual material that gets such an eye-catching second life.

After endless searching, tinkering and experimenting, the result is now shining on moriginalstudio.nl. Creations where I combine my profession as a goldsmith and bicycle repairman to my heart's content.
